highest mountain in Japan. At 12,389 ft it can be seen in Tokyo some 62 miles
away. It is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" along with Mount Haku and
Mount Tate. Mt Fuji is an stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707-'08. The
volcano is currently classified as active with a low risk of
eruption.
