Mallards, the duck of ducks

The Mallards are probably the most recognizable ducks around. On the Christmas bird count we saw over 40 of them....both male and females.

Christmas lights

Christmas lights always excite me to the core. It's not the shopping, gifts, food, stockings, or the tree. It is the anticipation of something, the possibility of something, of what I am not sure.

One lone Robin

This Robin sat in a tree near me. I couldn't believe that she didn't move. She watched me and I watched her. It made for a nice day of birding.

Blue blue Christmas? WHAT?

This little guy is an Eastern Bluebird.
Here in Oklahoma the Bluebirds are here year round.
They are always on the lookout for insects.
This time of year they are also eating the berries that are around.

If you are lucky enough to have these in your yard think about feeding them mealworms. They love mealworms.

Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a common sight here in Oklahoma (and around the US).
You will often see them hunting for food solo.
So what do they eat?  Their diet include fish, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, insects, and other birds. I love these birds...oh heck all birds.

Mt Fuji is an stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707-'08. The volcano is currently classified as active with a low risk of eruption.

Humming birds in Oklahoma

I have not seen a hummingbird in about 2 week...though we may get some that are passing through on their way south for the winter.

Trees and light

There is something about a tree and the sun.
I find myself always shooting the same subjects.
I do not know if it is the power of the sun or the strength of the tree.
It could just be the peace of the moment.

It's the dress

I want this dress. I want to be small enough to look good in this dress. The things I would do in this dress....garden, bake cookies and breads, can, dry, and freeze veggies/ fruits. I would feed the chickens in this dress. Oh, and by the way...I would be a housewife.

Birds of Oklahoma...and rubber stamps....

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

We went birding on Sunday in our usual areas.
We heard a lot of birds but didn't find the "sweet spot".
Usually there is one spot that has a lot of birds or unusual birds.
There is always next Sunday.
I thought this was funny.
We received 2 envelopes today with stamp samples....
We are very excited to share them with you.
So... I should have them posted by tomorrow evening

What can I say.....peaceful!

This is a young Mississippi Kite drying it wings. There was 5 Kites in this tree.

Now that was cool!

This is an okra plant. Yum!

You never know....

You never know what you will find if you just stand back and just be. This little Yellow Warbler was in this tree flitting about. I never heard it, I saw it. It was very small and sweet.

The dragonflies and other insects are amazing....and tons of butterflies.....
We went out birding last weekend and within a few minutes I had two ticks on me. Argh....It is going to be a bad year for ticks......mild winters will do that!
Okie dokie,
Here are the cards I will be teaching at Stampaway this year! It seems so far away but yet it is soooooo soon. We are working on new stamps and a new catalog. These 30 hour days are a killer. :)
We have new banners this year for the booth...they look great! I think the theme of our booth will be kind of an English garden meets rubber stamps. We have been working on some new samples that I think will pretty much blow your minds...well...okay....but they are cool! More about Stampaway soon!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Life and other things

Now that it is February we are starting to get busy on new images and samples. January flew by so quickly...or so it seems. I have been busy birding on the weekends, working, organizing and upcycling, working on orders, and enjoying the little free time I have. Here in Oklahoma we have not really had our winter yet, though it is cold tonight. We had rain on Friday and some folks had hail and thunderstorms. We still need more rain and moisture. This past spring and summer was really bad...we are still in a drought. I am, however, getting excited about garden season. I bought some seeds and onion starters. Yum!
