How does my garden grow?

We have had a lot of rain...and tornados...yikes. So far this year it has been crazy weather! I decided to start a new flower bed....no real big plan yet....Kind of just doing it.
So far I have planted flowers herbs and sunflowers (which yes.... I know are flowers), and tomatoes. I am trying to work a little at a time, each day.

I started the day off birding...then home to mow the grass and clean up all the dead limbs that came down in the storms. Everyone on my block as a lot of wind damage....but once again we dodged the bullet and were not hit by the twister that came through Norman.
I need to buy a grill so I can start cooking out!

Lavender dreams....

So far my lavender is doing well.
The extreme weather and hail has not helped.

Time will tell....

What's with the weather....man

I would love to give you an update on my garden, my plants and flowers. The weather has been really weird...Cold, warm, cold, warm. I'll post next week and let you know how things are going.

It's Spring...isn't it?

Our weather here in Oklahoma can be a bit...unpredictable...to say the least. One day it can be 70 degrees, the next day snowing, the day after that, tornados. I am so ready to start the garden and yet it is going to be below freezing tonight...I am now glad I have waited.

Okay, I got a chance to work on my potting station. I decided to add more slots. There are now 4 slots.
 Working from the left to right;
slot 1: pot storage
slot 2: Bird feeders, not in use
slot 3: potting area
slot 4: lawn mower and bike storage
I need to tweak it a bit so it is not an eyesore. I know the nosey neighbor, who always has her very looooong nose in everyone's business will certainly disapprove. Ol' biddy is what she is.(gossipy and interfering)....I digress.
I have a plan.

Repurposing pallets

I worked another couple of hours on my planting area. I could not figure out how to disassemble the pallets. I need bigger tools. A hammer and screw driver will not do it. I have two pallets waiting on me to take them home.

New year, new projects

Okay...So you might be wondering what the heck this is and why it looks so....well....UGLY.
It is the beginning of my potting station. I am re-purposing items. The pallets are from Wild Birds Unlimited. They get fresh seed every week. The seed comes in 20# bags on pallets. I took three of them home, my brother brought me one. Earlier this evening I started making my planting station. During the winter I will be storing my bike on the left and the mower on the right side. I have a long way to go, but I got this far today. The weather today was perfect for this project. Tomorrow should be even warmer. I have wood from an old fence that I will be adding. I am hoping to stain it when I get it done. This should help prolong the life of the station.

Painted Bunting

So my friend (Diana) told me she had a Painted Bunting on her feeder on Sunday (right, I thought). She emailed me some photos.
We do not get Painted Buntings in Norman, Oklahoma in the winter....It doesn't happen....ever...errr except this winter. It is a Painted Bunting and it is winter. Everyone is amazed and excited about this bird. He has been eating White Proso Millet and loving it! I hope I get a chance to go see it. Amazing!
