Day 5 of 365 days of art

Hello...so the spark today was  use something you collect in the piece. That would be hard...I am an artist...we collect everything. So at the paper tonight there was an ad with Ladybugs on the whole page. I cut some out and cut the wings. Then folding them made them look like they were flying. I thought...why not use aluminium cans. I watched people throw their cans away and started gathering them and washing them out. At home I have a large trash can (outside) lined that I toss them in every morning. When the can gets full I take them to be recycled.  So I cut up a can used a marker to make dots and tah dah...done...kinda on the crafty side but C'est la vie.

Day IV of the 365 day art

The spark...take a 5 minute walk, make something and leave it. Take a walk for 5 minutes...are you kidding me? Who has 5 minutes..okay...I do not have 5 minutes. But I did make something and I did leave it outside...Now in the 2nd photo you will see a poor little Hummingbird...It is way dead. Probably some big bird got a hold of it...or old age...poor little thing. The peanuts are from Wild Birds...It was fun and my boss totally did not get it.....score!

Day 3...Paper and nothing else

Here is day 3 of the 365 days. The spark is to make something with paper... no scissors, no glue.
This is how I did it.
When they run newspaper through the press they have paper that comes out first...usually what prints is the last of what was printed last...clear as mud? Then they run paper that has ink on it. They do this to calibrate the colors. All this waste paper then goes to a recycling company in the city....I used this paper (very pretty colors) and made a twisty rose out of it.

Day Two! Favorite animal inspiration

Okay, Day two
Use your favorite animal as inspiration for your art. Since the theme I picked was my two work places...the head is from a kid at work...favorite animal...we heck birds would have been too obvious. I decided on fish. Photoshop rocks!

Day 1-Something that fits in the palm of my hand

Okay...day one
I started out with a piece of brass and bent it into the shape of a heart...duh...then found the ads that I had answered when I was job hunting nearly two years ago...(see previous blog for more info on the jobs ) I added the red drop, retrieved from the trash during a big cleaning day. (It is chipped...thus unusable) and I added mail stickers...I work the mail area of the mail room. Do I consider it done?...no...I need to add some age to it...with ink. But just look at that hand...the hand of an artist! This photo was taken at the paper during a break.

I got a new book...

Hello...yep here is another blog! Like the world needs yet another one. However, here it is.
A little background info for you...I live in the heartland of the USA... Norman, OK to be exact. I works two part time jobs (I know boo hoo) and average between 70-80 hours a week at those two jobs. I recently realized I have not taken the time to create art. Pooh! Art is my life...or at least it had been for years. Then I started to work these two "part time" jobs and have lost my creative self. Well... I am back....and yes...I use a lot of dots....like....this...so this will be something to get used to! The book I bought is called,365: A daily creativity journal:make something everyday and change your life! It is written by Noah Scalin. This book is like a little spark (or big one) to get your creativity active. In the first part of the book it tells us (the reader/artist)to share with others our creativity. so blogspot it is....and hello world! I am on day two so I have photos of the two first days. The author also suggests that we pick a theme...my is my two work places...more info to follow...for sure! Oh...my two jobs, by the way, are...I work at the local newspaper (mailroom) and a outdoor gift and hobby store....for wild birds....newspapers and wild birds = my life. So here we go....
